Hi everyone!

Here are minutes of the ZOOM meeting held on May 29.

At the beginning of the meeting, the attendees exchanged updates of recent events and interests. SM Takahata shared us with a piece of wonderful news saying that her son’s family had a baby boy, her third grandchild ! SM K. Narisawa talked about having devastating dreams in which he got panicky in an official meeting or the like, forgetting important things. SM Kaneko voiced somewhat critical comments about the plan of trimming trees in Yoyogi Park to make part of it a public viewing site, which is totally contradictory to the messages to the public strongly urging the public to stay home. In response, SM Yamazaki also expressed negative comments about it in an angry way.

“True story you want to share with us” (SM Koizumi)

The speaker raised Mother Teresa, saying that he was truly moved by her words and acts. SM K. Narisawa took up the story of an episode in connection with the soccer coach of Alberto Zaccheroni. He also raised a vocabulary question of the antonym for “selfish”. In response, SM Kaneko answered that one example is altruistic. Also SM K. Narisawa took up an idiom of “against the grain” (LONGMAN read: if something goes against the grain, it is not what you would naturally or normally do. Mary is always honest and it went against the grain to tell lies.)

“Which do you think better, summer or winter?” (SM Takahata)

The speaker said that she prefers winter to summer, reasoning that she had a lot of fun in winter sports such as skiing and skating in her childhood. She also added to her reasoning, saying that winter foods taste better to her, such as miso.

“What is the effect of the internet? “ (SM K. Narisawa)

The speaker skillfully talked about his opinions about his comments on both social and private levels. On his private levels, for him it is a nice gadget providing him with a lot of fun things such different types of fictional stories such as SF drama and crime story. Regarding public levels, he raised benefits of proving us with various educational materials online.

“Unhealthy foods” (SM Kaneko)

The speaker said that he always keeps in mind of avoiding too much meat and the amount of sugar content in foods. Since around July last year, he began to have a habit of consuming kiwi and milk every day for better health because he has underlying health concerns of relatively high urine acid value. He also raised a daily habit of drinking alcohol of beer and syochu although the amount is considered moderate. In this connection, the attendees exchanged their own favorite brands. In response to a question about alcohol preference, SM K. Narisawa said that he cannot drink alcohol at all, which is hereditary, he said.

“Fictional story you want to share” (SM Yamazaki)

The speaker talked about some of the turning points in his life, obviously stepping aside the points of speech title. He said that a long period from his high school to university days was like life in a tunnel. However, he emphasized that with the bitter experiences during that period, he could make a change in his life.

After the Table Topics portion, the attendees exchanged their feelings and opinions about various topics. Regarding influential figures, SM K. Narisawa said that his elder sister and brother were influential, saying his elder brother in particular had a major impact on his life. He said his brother is very intelligent and gave some positive advice on selection of his high school. With his encouragement, he successfully made it in entering his first choice high school. In connection with interactions with siblings, SM Takahata talked about her elder sister, saying that she was not influenced by her music preferences. She had a strong interest in the group sounds that had thrived at that time, she recalled. SM Koizumi touched on his twin brother, saying that he had good memories of playing a final tennis match with him in which he defeated him anyway.
