Hi everyone !


Here is the summary of the meeting that was held on November 14. The weather was perfectly clear and very comfortable.


The meeting started with the Presidential Remarks, taking up a conversation with an ALT as to whether or not we will be able to achieve nearly perfect immunity with a shot.


SM Kaneko and SM K. Narisawa served as the Coordinator and the Lecturer respectively.


The Coordinator raised a question of the proper way of self introduction, asking for whether a given name should come first or not for a Japanese name. In response, some examples were given.

Lecturer

With some sentences given, the Lecturer asked for various questions such as the meaning of each phrase and creating an example sentence.

Here are some of the phrases.

. That phrase stuck with Paul.

. Detroit still seemed to have one up on the German auto industry.

. When all this blows over, you can go back to Germany. You aren't necessarily leaving the country forever.


Table Topic Speech

"Summer is the best and worst times."(SM Yo. Narisawa)

The speaker said that summer is the best season for vacation. However, the season is the worst because battles with cockroaches intensify during the season, killing them with insecticide in place of her husband. SM K. Narisawa added his comments about the human nature of complaining about things including finding something uncomfortable about a season in the middle of the season and longing for something good in another season as well as criticizing their spouses rather than being content with.


"What is your favorite fall festival?"(SM Noro)

The speaker talked about good memories of beer festivals held in Germany. He also touched on the taste of beer, saying it is tastier than Japanese one. SM Koizumi expressed his share of pleasant experiences with SM Noro about his pleasant memories during the period of being stationed in Belgium.


"Discuss the memorable events in your life?"(SM Koizumi)

The speaker said that a dancing competition for reaching the level 3 qualification was memorable. He also said that he started dancing at the invitation from his elder sister. Now he provides lessons for her as a professional.

In response to the question from the Coordinator, SM Noro raised a memorable event of his elder son's wedding ceremony with an episode of being given a kind word of praising his gentle and kind personality by one of bride's relatives.


"What is your favorite way to spend lazy day?(K. Narisawa)

The speaker started with his obligations such as school work, saying that he wants to turn down the request from the school depending on the volume of the task, considering his health. For a lazy day with free of obligations, he said that he is seated in front of the desktop computer, being absorbed in the internet from early morning to night. For a busy day, he said that he is likely to watch his favorite movies halfway through, and resumes watching it in another day.


"What is the most significant effect of the internet? "(SM Yamazaki )

The speaker took up negative effects with greater usage of the internet, saying that the internet which is full of incorrect and false propaganda is increasingly affecting people's views. From this, the speaker said that we should be careful about the quality of information.


Prepared Speech

"Tsuizen~Requiem"'(SM Koizumi)

The speaker talked about the first anniversary of his dead cousin. He quoted a short lecture from the priest, saying the practice of "Tsuizen" in Japanese meaning that the practice of sending each individual's feelings to the dead person who is in paradise after death. Also he said that the priest emphasized the importance of practicing "tsuizen" anytime and anywhere. During his speech, he used a gadget mimicking sutra.


"President Elect"(SM Noro)

With respect to the hot topics of the US Presidential election outcome, he talked about the contents of the President-Elect Joe Biden's website entitled the Biden Harris Transition. On the website, he said that Biden provides his clear messages aiming for reaching the people with a keyword of "build back better". And he also touched on the Japanese Prime Minister's Office, expressing his impressions with poor quality with no inspiring messages toward the people. In the connections with the election, the Coordinator asked for English phrases corresponding to Japanese phrases of 潔い and 見苦しい. In response, SM Narisawa took up phrases of "The person is a good sport" and "The person is a poor looser."


"Something fascinating"(SM Yo. Narisawa)

The speaker started with the concerns about the pandemic situation. And she moved on to her husband's recent great interest in YouTube, complaining that he even forgets about the time with the phrase of "Where is he heading for?" She also talked about her daughter' pet dog of Koume-chan, saying that she and her husband she got through a bad situation of their dog losing weight with weak appetite by feeding Koume-chan their food in response to her pleading eyes. However, she wonders if their judgment is appropriate.


"Inspiring words"(SM Yamazaki)

The speaker talked about the US Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris's victory speech, quoting the highlights of the speech.
