Hi everyone !

Here is the summary of the meeting.

The meeting started with the Presidential Remarks. The President took up his recent experience of the questioning of the proper pronunciation of chestnut, accentuating the significance of consistently learning new things including vocabulary. With this regard, the Coordinator took up the word of "whistle-blower" that he encountered in the second presidential election debate.

SM Noro and SM Yo. Narisawa served the Coordinator and the Lecturer respectively.





Lecturer

The lecture consisted of a message passing game and a question of solving riddles.

In the message passing game each member challenged themselves to memorize a simple English sentence in just five seconds. And then each sentence was written down and passed onto the person next to each member. SM K. Narisawa took up a useful word of "brain teaser".


Table Topic Speech

"Pets are good for who have no children" (SM Kaneko)

The speaker started with the growing trend of having pets seeking for consolation including the elderly. And the speaker went on his speech adding his personal experience of having three gold fish for about four years, emphasizing the ease of maintenance thanks to the well-devised fish tank.


"What stands between you and happiness and unhappiness?"(SM Takahata)

The speaker said that the perception of happiness in her daily life depends on quite simple things such as how the weather is. If it is fine, she does want to do her hobby of taking care of plants including watering.

"Uniforms strife individuality"(SM Yo. Narisawa)

The speaker argued against the statement, saying that individuality is not affected by uniforms.

"Children should not watch TV"(SM K. Narisawa)

The speaker said the he partly agreed with the statement, saying that it is ideal to find something interesting and inspiring for children without relying on the entertainment factors of TV. He, however, from his personal childhood experiences finding great interests in TV, he said that TV doesn't become a hindrance to the comprehensive development of children.


"Describing your best experience"(SM Yamazaki)

The speaker touched on his recent bad experiences. And he talked about future would-be best experience of passing of the highest grade of the UN English test.

Prepared Speech

"Experience counts"(SM Kaneko)

Touching on the speaker's experience of consistently attending SMC for about seven years, he realized afresh the importance of accumulating experiences including the experience of delivering a speech for his father's funeral in front of people. He also talked about the renowned composer Thuthumi Kyohei san.


"Memories related to my cars"(SM Takahata)

The speaker talked about her family car of Nissan MARCH. She said she currently drives her third MARCH and she talked about personal affections associated with her family life. She concluded that how it would be the next car. With regards to the topic, SM Kaneko added his comment, saying that he gave up driving about 25 years ago mainly because he found it unnecessary to use a car.

"You-Tube programs"(SM K. Narisawa)

The speaker started with good memories associated with TV programs from his childhood with specific episodes. And he moved on to the topic of YouTube sites that he has recently been drawn in. He again concluded his speech, saying that You-Tube can be a very useful tool for English learning with his recommendation of not to be fussy about the details of contents, but to enjoy the contents as a whole with some help of automatic interpretation.


"A patchwork"(SM Yamazaki)

The speaker talked about the wonder of amazing ability of animals such as parakeets and dogs.
