12月22日（土）小山公民館でのSMCを報告します。

K. Narisawaさん、Yo. Narisawaさん、Kanekoさん、Takahataさん、Koizumiさん、Noroさん、Yu. NarisawaさんYamazakiの８名の参加でした。

ConductorはKoizumiさん、LecturerはK. Narisawaさんでした。Yamazakiが報告します。

◆ Lecture

“Let’s play the game of Story-teller”

Game 1、Game 2それぞれ各メンバが、指定時間内（30秒、1分）で英語の物語を話し、メンバ全体としてまとまったストーリーとするものでした。指定されたイディオムを最低ひとつ織り込むというもので、個人的には実力不足を痛感させられました。

. What white lies do you often talk?

. Are you more like your mom or your dad? In what way?

. What is your favorite place on Earth?

. How many friends do you have in real life that you talk to regularly?

. What are some recent compliments you’ve received?

. Whom do you secretly envy? Why?

◆ Prepared Speech

“New Year’s cards” (Takahataさん)

毎年年賀状の交換を楽しみにしているというTakahataさん。今でも印象に残っている高校の英語の先生の年賀状のことなどを紹介していただきました。

"Arimakinen" (Yu. Narisawaさん)

障害界の絶対王者から、平地に転じたオジュウチョウサン異色のチャレンジについてお話しいただきました。鞍上は名手・武豊氏。ラジオで実況を聴きました。結果は9位でした。

“Holidays” (Kanekoさん)

クリスマス、年末年始を前にして、Holidaysに関するスピーチでした。音楽が好きなKanekoさん。Gilbert O'sullivanのクリスマスソングを紹介してくれました。

“Three days with Koume” (Yo. Narisawaさん)

娘さんが留守中にpet dog(Koume-chan)と過ごした物語でした。日常の何気ないできごとが、生き生きと表現されていたと、Presidentからコメントがありました。

“No ticket to ride: Japanese bus drivers strike by giving free rides” (Noroさん)

民営化、料金値上げに反対して運転手が無料乗車を提供としたというThe Guardianからの引用した英文をもとにしたスピーチでした。

“Popular songs change with the times” (Yamazaki)

「今年のヒット曲ベスト１０」でほとんど知らない曲ばかりとなって15年ほど。その感慨を話しました。

今回のConductorのKoizumiさんから、「サイレントナイト」の歌詞が配布していただき、休憩時間にメロディに合わせ歌ってみました。

◆ Presidential remarks

“be called on the carpet”: to be criticized by someone in authority because they have done something wrong

“be in the doghouse”: to be in a situation in which someone is annoyed with you because of something you have done

“be on cloud nine”: to be very happy about something

“leave no stone unturned”: to do everything you can in order to find something or to solve a problem
