7月14日（土）小山公民館でのSMCを報告します。
報告が遅くなり、申し訳ありません。
K. Narisawaさん、Yo. Narisawaさん、Kanekoさん、Takahataさん、Koizumiさん、Yamazakiの6名の参加でした。
ConductorはKoizumiさん、LecturerはTakahataさんでした。
◆ Lecture
“Word quiz”でした。
英英辞典の定義からその単語は何かと考える問題でした。
- The (hallmark) of something or someone is their most typical quality or feature.
- Something or someone that is (immature) is not yet completely grown or fully developed.
- A (jackpot) is a most valuable prize in a game or lottery, especially the game involves increasing the value of the prize until someone wins it.
- A (pillar) is a tall solid structure, which is usually used to support part of a building.
- If someone (demotes) you, they give you a lower rank or less important position than you already have, often as a punishment.
- A (hedge) is a row of bushes or small trees, usually along the edge of a garden, field or road.
- A (perspective) is a particular way of thinking about something, especially one that is influenced by your benefits or experiences.
- To (oppress) people means to treat them cruelly, or to prevent them from having the same opportunities, freedom and benefits as others.

◆ Prepared Speech

毎回にわかサッカーファンにさせるワールドカップ。今回の日本チームの活躍の話を織り交ぜたスピーチでした。
. “pragmatism vs. idealism” (K. Narisawaさん)
絶滅危惧のクロサイ保護のためにとった南アフリカ政府の現実主義政策とStephen Kingのある小説に描かれた現実主義的な人間の行動についてのスピーチでした。

ご夫婦で行かれた桃狩りについてのお話しでした。

最近の西日本豪雨。またもや、自然災害で家、車が流される映像が流れました。それは４０年前の予想映像そのものでした。
◆ Presidential remarks
下記の上限の紹介がありました。
. to blow one’s top 怒りを爆発させる
I beg to differ/disagree. 「失礼ですが、私の考えは違います。」 反対意見を言うときの、和らげる表現。
次回７月１４日（土）も会場は小山公民館です。
