こんにちは。Yamazakiです。 10月28日のSMCを報告します。K. Narisawaさん、Y. Narisawaさん、Hirabayashiさん、Kanekoさん、Yamazakiの5名の参加でした。ConductorはHirabayashiさん、LecturerはYamazakiでした。

◆ Lecture

ホノルルで歩きスマホする人(smart phone zombies)に罰金を科されるようなったというインターネット記事から、一部単語の穴埋め問題にしました。

-People walking with their eyes (glued) to their mobile phone - Honolulu is thought to be the first major city to (enact) such as ban - a frequent source of mental and visual (distraction) for both drivers and walkers - Critics are (concerned about) personal freedom - one dangerous action, like (jaywalking) or not looking both ways

◆ Prepared Speech

- “What a shame!” (Y. Narisawaさん)

大事なカードが入った財布をレストランに置き忘れ、盗まれたという悪夢のエピソードのスピーチでした。

“I woke to the sound of the alarm clock.”

- “A memorable student” (K. Narisawaさん)

長い教員生活でとても変わった生徒のエピソードのスピーチでした。 “He deserves to be called strange, or eccentric in the true sense of the world.”

- “Impromptu speech” (Kanekoさん)

Kanekoさんの世界観に基づく人の名前に関するスピーチでした。

◆ Presidential remarks

“Prepared speech”で改めて、原稿を脇においてのスピーチすることの重要性のお話しがありました。次回11月11日(土)は中央公民館コミュニティ室、11月25日(土)は清新公民館料理実習室です。次回のConductorはKanekoさん、LecturerはK. Narisawaさんの予定です。
