こんにちは。Yamazakiです。1月28日のSMCを報告します。 K. Narisawaさん、Y. Narisawaさん、Hirabayashiさん、Kanekoさん、Yamazakiの5名の参加でした。ConductorはKanekoさん、LecturerはHirabayashiさんでした。
◆ Lecture
“Abe’s Address in Pearl Harbor”
安倍首相のパールハーバー訪問での演説を全員で読み合せ、英語表現とその意味を話し合いました。 “reconciliation”がキーワードになりますが、”It has now been 75 years since that “Pearl Harbor”. Japan and fierce war that will go down in the annals（note: an official record of events or activities year by year） of human history, have become allies with deep and strong ties rarely found anywhere in history”が印象に残りました。

- Which do you prefer, indoor sports or outdoor sports? - What are your favorite books? - When do you listen to music? - Tell about your best friends.
◆ Prepared Speech
- “Carpe diem” （K. Narisawaさん）
いまNarisawaさんが夢中になって読んでいるというDaniel Steeleが書いた小説’Country’の紹介でした。キーワードは”seize the day”. “Life is too short to idle away time sweating the small stuff”というNarisawaさんの人生観にフィットしているという。共感します。
- “How exciting it is to see sports in place!” (Y. Narisawaさん)
中学生時代にバスケットボールクラブに所属していたというNarisawaさんが最近プロバスケットボールを生で観る機会が何度もあって、それがいかに楽しいものかが伝ってくるスピーチでした。
“Whenever players do a fine play, I cheer them in a loud voice. On the other hand, when they miss shooting, I cheer them nonetheless.”
- “Ibaraki’s rising star” (Yamazaki)
あまり熱心な相撲ファンではない私でも感動した稀勢の里の優勝、横綱昇進でした。優勝時のインタービューで見せた涙ながらのコメントについてのスピーチでした。
◆ Presidential Remarks
発表者たちが、おもしろいと思う本の魅力を紹介しあうビブリオバトル（bibliobattle）というイベントが新聞に載るようになりましたが、Presidentは実際の本を見せながらスピーチ含めて、うまいCommunicatorになるには小説をぜひということでした。
次回2月11日(第2土曜日)は、ConductorはHirabayashiさん、LecturerはK. Narisawaさんの予定です。
